2021 Mercedes-Benz “U Class” Concept

Scott Wu Kaiser, a 6th-term transportation design student at California’s Art Center College of Design, design this Mercedes-Benz entitled “U-class”. U letter is taken from the German word “üppig” which means sumptuous, lavish, luxurious. 

The main reason for this new class may be the position of the actual S-class in the market. Above BMW and Audi full class luxury sedan but behind the Bentley and Rolls Royce ultra-luxury market.

Instead of continuing with Maybach, which they tried to make it as a brand for itself and didn’t succeed very well, Mercedes-Benz may try to set a new class with a mercedes-Benz logo for that ultra-luxury market. Anyway, from 2013 the year they stopped the production of MayBach, to 2021,when the new U-class should be launched, it’s a long way. S-class has to compete with two different classes and in the end I’m not sure it will win. Maybe they should have continued with Maybach or maybe they need a new class. All in all, this new class will have to offer more than S-class which that my friends, will be a very difficult job.

I wanted to explain about the engine and design but I know that from sketches until the production model there is a very very long way. It looks good, “U class” name feels good, and it will definitely have a market of it’s own. All we can do is wait and enjoy.
